The Westerville Sunrise Rotary Club is pleased to announce that its 14th annual Wendy’s Chili Open fundraising event will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 and hosted by the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium from noon to 5:00 p.m.
In addition to showcasing Wendy’s Chili, the family-oriented event features a wide variety of food from over 30 prominent local restaurants, live music provided by The Debits, silent auctions, raffles, numerous children’s games and activities at the “Children’s Open” and other entertainment, with all proceeds going to area children’s charities. The event is hosted by local celebrities, Dom Tiberi of WBNS 10TV and Woody Johnson of WCOL 92.3.
In its previous 13 years, this fundraising even has raised over $1.3 million with 100% of the proceeds donated to area children’s charities such as The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, The Children’s Hunger Alliance, The Special Care Nursery at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s, The Ohio Troopers Caring Fund, The Sunrise Rotary Foundation, W.A.R.M., Flying Horse Farms, and numerous other children’s betterment programs. This is one of the largest 1-day fundraisers planned and ran entirely by Rotary Club members in the country.
Tickets will go on sale in early December and may be purchased in advance at any Kroger stores for $25. Tickets may also be purchased at the Zoo on the day of the event for $30. Parking at the Zoo will be $5 per vehicle and children 12 and under may attend free when accompanying an event ticket holder.
