History of
Ohio Troopers Caring, Inc.

Ohio Troopers Caring, established in 1994, conducts philanthropic programming for the Ohio Troopers Organization. These programs were originally conducted by the Ohio Troopers Coalition but in an attempt to emphasize the importance of its charitable involvement, the troopers established Caring as a separate organization with its own set of officers and its own identity.
Caring is the signature sponsor to many worthwhile events. Each February, it donates time, money and energy to the Wendy’s Chili Open. The Chili Open benefits the Child Hunger Alliance. In the summer months, the Special Olympics and Challenger Baseball take center stage. Caring maintains and operates a tent at “Tent Town” during the Special Olympics. The athletes and their families can stop by the tent for a chat with a Trooper or take a picture with and get a hug from Teddy Trooper. Challenger Baseball is the singular event for Ohio Troopers Caring. It is a gathering of exceptional young people. Each is an athlete fighting through physical infirmity. For a weekend they gather together in fellowship and athletic competition. Each athlete receives a trophy and a medal for their participation in this extraordinary tournament.
